This crab house was just an overall terrible experience. The food wasn’t good at all, nothing tasted fresh, and everything felt rushed and poorly made. The staff was extremely rude and clearly didn’t care about their customers. I sat there for over 30 minutes before anyone even came to take my order, which is just unbelievable. The whole place felt unpleasant and unorganized from the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, the tables were sticky, and the benches were dirty. You can tell the place is really outdated and hasn’t been properly cared for in a long time. Definitely not somewhere I’d recommend, especially if you’re with family. The service, the food, and the cleanliness were all disappointing. Save your money and go literally anywhere else, this place just isn’t worth it.

Greeted as soon as we entered and were happy to be seated right away without a reservation. Then we sat at our table watching server after server walk past us. 20 minutes and sitting right by the hostess area and nothing. Then a table was seated directly behind us and a server walked up to greet them AS they were sitting down. My husband immediately went to the hostess area and asked if we could please get service. No apology, just made a comment wondering where Mike was. We assume that was our server. Another 5 plus minutes and a server appeared. Again, no apology for the long wait (now close to a half hour) no introduction, just asked about drinks. Our server was so quiet at times we couldn't hear him. He was nice, but it already set the mood by us being forgotten and no apology. Food came out in a timely manner. Most everyone at the table liked their food. There was one dish, crab imperial that was tasteless. Except for the Caesar salad, which was huge and a good price, everything else was expensive for portion sizes.
With the amount of restaurants in OCMD to choose from we will not return to this one. Definitely not worth the price and lack of good service.

Update: Visited again 7/7/24 at 8:10pm. No wait to be seated. Pleasant staff. One of us got a bowl of New England Clam Chowder ($10) and said it was delicious. One of us got the mozzarella sticks ($11). They were good. The rest of us ordered the fried shrimp platter ($33.89), 1 Crab Cake platter ($30.79), and the Crab Imperial ($42.29.) Add in the drinks and tip and this meal was over $200. The meals were delicious, but we all think they were definitely overpriced. Food is excellent, but be ready for the price-shock.

We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell which had side dipping options of cocktail sauce, lemons, and horseradish. They were perfect! My daughter enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks for her dinner. We both ordered the Alaskan snow crab leg special. It comes with two sides of which I ordered the salad and baked potato. Crab legs were sweet and succulent! You have to work for the meat when you get to the tinier parts of the legs, but SO worth it. This is my third time at this Higgins Crab House and I haven’t been disappointed yet. Definitely recommend!
